Roblox

What is Roblox?

Roblox is not one game — it is a platform with millions of user-created games (“experiences”). Children can play, create their own games, chat and trade with virtual currency (Robux). It is one of the most popular platforms for children under 13.

Age rating: No official minimum age. Children under 13 get an account with restrictions, but these are not always sufficient.

Settings to check

  1. Age verification: Make sure your child’s account has the correct date of birth. Under-13 accounts have stricter filters.
  2. Privacy settings: Log in → Settings → Privacy. Set “Who can chat with me” to “Friends” or “No one”.
  3. Account restrictions: Under Security, you can enable “Account Restrictions” for younger children. This limits chat and restricts access to a curated list of games.
  4. PIN code: Set a parental PIN to prevent your child from changing the settings.
  5. Spending: Check whether a payment method is linked to the account. Consider removing it and using prepaid Robux cards instead.

How to talk about it

“Can you show me what you’re playing in Roblox? I’d like to understand what you enjoy about it.”

“Do you talk to people you don’t know in the games? What do you chat about?”

“If someone in a game asks you to chat on another platform or share personal information — what would you do?”
