What is PlayStation?

PlayStation is Sony’s gaming console (PS5 and PS4) with PlayStation Network (PSN) for online multiplayer, messaging, voice chat, the PlayStation Store for buying games and content, and the ability to stream gameplay. Children can play with friends and strangers online, join Parties or group chats, and send messages.

Settings to check

  1. Set up Family Management: Open PlayStation → Settings → Family and Parental Controls, and add the child account as a family member.
  2. Set age limits for content: Open Family Management → Parental Controls, and block games and content with higher age ratings.
  3. Restrict communication: Open Privacy Settings → Communication and Multiplayer, and choose “Friends only” or “Nobody” for messages and voice chat.
  4. Set spending limits: Open Family Management → Monthly Spending Limit, and choose a PSN wallet limit.
  5. Enable playtime controls: Open Family Management → Play Time, and set daily time limits and notifications.
  6. Restrict user-generated content: Open Parental Controls → User Generated Content, and limit content made by other users.
  7. Check privacy settings: Open Privacy Settings → Profile, and limit who can see online status, friends list and real name.
